Yesterday, I emailed the announcement of my Fall schedule of workshops to those on my mailing list. I’m really excited about the new classes I’m offering! I’m also offering two Fast Flash workshops ONLY to those who’ve not been able to get in yet. You will only have received this if you’ve signed up for my mailing list (not just following this blog), so please let me know if you want to receive regular updates and announcements on my classes.
As I mentioned before, I use a lottery system for registration as the classes fill very quickly (within hours) and this feels like the fairest way of going about it. Sign ups for the lottery will close on Monday, August 19th at Midnight U.S mountain time (6:00 a.m. Tuesday GMT) If your name is chosen (randomly, via an online lottery app), you will be notified Tuesday, August 20th, and will be given instructions for securing your spot. If you are not selected you will be placed on a waiting list and notified if a space becomes available.

FAST FLASH (ORIGINAL – FIRST-TIMERS ONLY PLEASE)
Fast Flash© is a ten-day intensive and generative online flash fiction workshop that focuses on craft with daily exercises and prompts aimed at skill building while allowing for artistry and innovation. Writers participate on their own schedule in a private WordPress site. Fun and fast-paced! Expect to create a lot of new material in a short amount of time in a supportive environment. Stories from this workshop have been published widely, have won awards, and have been chosen for Best Small Fictions and many other anthologies.
Group size: 15 participants

SESSION 1: Monday, Oct. 7th – Wednesday, Oct. 16th (10 days, straight through)
SESSION 2: Monday, Oct. 21st – Friday, Nov. 1st (10 days, with weekend off)
FAST FLASH 2.0
This five-day Fast Flash sprint includes ALL-NEW daily craft articles, exercises, and reading/inspirations. The same approach, design, and format as the original class, but in half the time. This class is perfect for those who have taken Fast Flash before and/or cannot commit to the ten-day version.

SESSION 2: Monday, Sept. 30th – Friday, Oct. 4th
FLASH MEMOIR WEEKEND INTENSIVE
Flash memoir is a fast burgeoning form, but where to begin the daunting process of writing one’s own life? We’ll explore ways to tap into the rich material of our own experience, memories, and dreams. We will then harness that material and shape it into a deep and resonant flash-length memoir. The three writing exercises in this weekend course are aimed at creating the first draft of a braided flash piece that may also form the foundation for a chapbook (or longer) length memoir.
