I have always felt very proud and honored for my time as fiction editor of Smokelong Quarterly. This journal gets better every year and remains one of the most respected venues for flash fiction around. Edited by the brilliant Tara Laskowski, “The Best of the First Ten Years: 2003-2013” anthology is now available from Matter Press. Here is the description:
SmokeLong Quarterly, one of the oldest and prominent online publishers of flash fiction, has collected the “best of the first ten years” in this anthology of 56 pieces, each one a smoke-long. Also, after each piece, the editor/guest editor who chose that particular story for the anthology explains why s/he chose it, including past editors Kelly Spitzer & Kathy Fish, Founding Editor and Publisher Dave Clapper, Senior Editors Tara Laskowski & Nancy Stebbins, and staff editors Gay Degani, Josh Denslow, Ashley Inguanta, Beth Thomas, and Brandon Wicks.
Get it!
Thanks for the shout-out, Kathy. We’re all so very excited about this anthology. It is fabulous. One thing, however, is that I don’t think we have a table this year at the book fair unless something has changed. We will, however, have the book for sale at the reading on Thursday, February 27, at 8:00 PM. Called “A Bang and a Smoke,” the reading will take place Atlas Space in Seattle and include Improv!!! If anyone is interested, check it out here: https://www.facebook.com/events/236736393166365/?ref_dashboard_filter=upcoming
I shall edit accordingly, Gay. Thanks!
See you in Seattle. I look forward to getting a copy there and hope to meet you, too.
Thanks so much, Jodi!
Excited. This is such a great group of writers. Lots of respect for your contribution to SmokeLong, Kathy.
Thanks, I’ve read the manuscript and it’s an amazing anthology. And thanks for the kind words. I actually edited for Smokelong for only a short time in its history, but always felt honored to be a part of it!
Please help spread the word!

Great seeing this post, Kathy. To say Smokelong Quarterly is one of the best is an understatement. Always top notch.
Agreed. Thanks for stopping by, Michelle!
