My 2019 Flash Fiction Publications

So 2019 has been an incredibly busy year for me. I taught several Fast Flash workshops, (I’m in the midst of teaching a Master Class as we speak), I ran some awesome writing retreats with my friend and business partner, Nancy Stohlman (Costa Rica! Italy! Grand Lake!), taught at the wonderful Flash Fiction Festival in Bristol, England, continue to teach and mentor for the Mile High MFA, and presented at Sisters in Crime, Colorado and the Fort Collins Book Fest. I also created a Skillshare class which has attracted over 500 students and there’s a new class of mine launching on December 10th. (Stay tuned!)

Unfortunately in all of this I haven’t gotten much writing done. This actually may be my quietest year yet on the publishing front. But I feel pretty good about the stories I did manage to get written and published:

  • My hybrid flash, “See How They Run” was published in print at the wonderful Mile High MFA run journal, Inverted Syntax.
  • I also collaborated with artist Stephanie J. Ryan in a cool project with the innovative 7 x 7 magazine for a flash length piece called “Only What Haunts.”
  • And my hybrid piece, “Praise Rain” was a featured fiction at Masters Review.

Of course the year’s not over yet! I’m so excited to take part in The Winter School in Doolin, Ireland in a few weeks time, where I will be in the student chair for a change! I am, as ever, grateful for all the great opportunities that have come my way and to have found work that is so gratifying and that I love so much.
