Denver Westword, The Six Best Literary Events This Week: Reading with Wendy J. Fox at BookBar

Many thanks to Westword for including my reading tomorrow night with Wendy J. Fox at Bookbar Denver on this list: The Six Best Literary Events This Week.

“Kathy Fish is regarded as one of the leading voices in flash fiction (stories usually under 500 to 1,000 words). She comes to BookBar to read from, discuss and sign her collection Wild Life, which brings together fifty flash stories, drawn from a decade and a half of work in the medium. Joining Fish for the event is Colorado Book Award finalist Wendy Fox (The Seven Stages of Anger and Other Stories), reading from her new award-winning book If the Ice Had Held.”

Though I tend to avoid my piece, “Collective Nouns for Humans in the Wild” for readings, I plan to read it tomorrow night in honor of Kendrick Castillo, who was killed in the act of rushing the shooter to save his classmates at the STEM School in Highlands Ranch. Like everyone around the country and especially here in Colorado, I am both heartbroken and angry and hoping for movement and change regarding our gun laws in this country.
